Experts call Kennedy’s plan to find autism’s cause unrealistic

Many autism experts say the Trump administration’s plan to find autism’s causes is unrealistic. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is banking on a new database of insurance claims and other health records, the kind of information used to track diagnoses and access to care. Autism science already has proven that genes play a huge role in development of the complex brain disorder. And cutting edge research now is focusing on uncovering differences inside the brain that lead to autism symptoms, changes that can be studied through noninvasive testing of brain activity and donations of whole brains after death.
