Researchers at Columbia University remain in limbo after the Ivy League institution bowed to the Trump administration’s demands for unprecedented changes in a bid to restore some $400 million in federal funds cut. Some affected researchers say they’re working to appeal the cuts, which were prompted by Trump’s concerns about antisemitism on campus. They complain the cuts have slashed scientific research and academic programs that have no connection to the war in Gaza, let alone the tensions that have roiled the campus. Columbia officials say they’re working to determine the full extent of the cuts, which remain in effect for now.
